About National Stock Exchange of India

Financial Overview
Strengths
4- 1
Strong market position. NSE has a significant position in India's equity and derivatives markets and reported being the world's largest derivatives exchange by number of contracts traded in FY2025.
- 2
Technology-driven infrastructure. Its electronic trading platform and investments in technology, surveillance and risk-management systems support high-volume market operations.
- 3
Diversified revenue streams. Although transaction charges are the largest revenue source, NSE also earns from listing, clearing, connectivity, data feeds, data-centre services and index licensing.
- 4
Broad ecosystem. Through subsidiaries such as NSE Clearing, NSE Indices, NSE Data & Analytics and NSE Academy, the group has expanded beyond the core exchange business.
Risks
4- 1
Regulatory dependence. NSE operates in a highly regulated financial-market environment, and changes in SEBI regulations, trading rules or fee structures can affect its business.
- 2
Market-volume dependence. Transaction-based revenue is linked to trading activity; lower market participation, volatility or trading volumes can affect revenue.
- 3
Technology and cybersecurity risk. As an electronic market infrastructure institution, system failures, cyberattacks or technology disruptions could affect trading operations and market confidence.
- 4
Competitive and concentration risk. NSE's revenue remains significantly dependent on transaction charges; its FY2025 consolidated revenue mix showed transaction charges at about 71%, making the business sensitive to changes in trading activity and pricing.
